NV Connect training cases are designed to learn skills essential to cerebral interventional procedures. The module facilitates technical, procedural, and cognitive training and discussions in a risk-free environment for these delicate procedures.

The training cases offer the opportunity to train on a range of neuro-interventional procedures, from the carotid artery and intracranial stenting to thrombectomy and aneurysm treatments (using flow diversion and coiling).

All cases provide all trainees—from beginners to advanced operators—with a risk-free opportunity to perfect both basic navigation skills and procedure-related specific skills and prepare well for the real intervention. NV Connect also allows trainers to set specific training targets, depending on the audience, by setting up benchmarks for each case or using the predefined benchmarks that come with the cases.

The AVM cases teach specific skills for AVM treatment, focusing on the basic steps of locating the main feeders, navigating to the nidus, and embolizing the AVM, including the detection and handling of potential reflux.

Features & Benefits

Key Benefits

Procedural planning based on patient scenarios

Learn the procedural steps for supra-aortic access and cerebral angiography

Acquire pertinent technical and manipulation skills

Safely access and navigate the cerebral vasculature

Defining the AVM, using selective angiograms to find and locate the nidus and the main feeders

Embolizing the AVM, including handling of reflux and assessing the result

Features & Benefits
  • Actual clinical devices can be used for realistic experience
  • Quick access – starting with sheath already placed in carotid - available
  • Distal access catheters can be used for facilitating distal navigation
  • Advanced imaging using roadmaps and biplane
  • 3DRA functionality for sizing and anatomy study
  • Genuine resistance during embolization
  • Injection volume and pressure measured during embolization
  • Detailed metrics for assessment and debriefing
Training Objectives
  • Identify the feeding arteries, nidus and draining veins using super selective contrast injections
  • Choose embolization strategy, i.e. decide what feeder to first start embolization
  • Select optimal bi-plane projections for respective feeder and draining vein
  • Access nidus through feeding arteries
  • Inject Embolics (glue) with a correct pressure and flow
  • Recognize and manage reflux
  • Use DSA to track progression of Embolics (glue) in the AVM
  • Recognize and stop when venous filling
